Rumors are that Qualcomm will be launching Snapdragon 845 this year in December. The successor to the Snapdragon 835, Snapdragon 845 will grace the upcoming flagship smartphones very soon.
According to a post by Weibo, the processor will be launched this December. As Snapdragon Technology Summit is happening from December 4 to December 8 in Maui, Hawai there is a high possibility the company might announce the new SoC there.
The latest Snapdragon 845 could be manufactured using the Low Power Early (LPE) FinFET process and is also expected to feature four ARM Cortex-A75 cores and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores. Qualcomm is said to pair the SOC with Adreno 630 GPU for a performance boost. As augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality(VR) are getting a lot of support and attention, the new chipset is being optimized for that. This will help Snapdragon 845 to make their way to a lot of smartphones.
Reports are that the chipset will have upgraded Kryo cores and X20 connectivity modem that offers downlink speeds up to 1.2Gbps.
Samsung will be grabbing the first batch of processors for their Galaxy S9 and S9+. With this advantage in hand, Samsung can affect other smartphone makers. Others will have to wait for the production of the successive batches of processors.
There are also rumors that Xiaomi is also planning to install Snapdragon 845 in their alleged Mi 7 to compete with Samsung and launch before the Samsung Galaxy S9.
