Is this some construction game?” I asked first when my child found that he would install Roblox on the machine. The association was not mischievous, as the platform’s name, Roblox, reminded me of the Mega Bloks construction game he was playing on the floor at the age of two or three. But it’s not a building game, just like Steam, it’s a game platform where you can play together or alone, develop a game or accessory, chat, and much more that is very attractive to teenagers.
From physics software to fun sandbox
The idea of Roblox was born in 2004. At its origin, David Baszucki, an American engineer and entrepreneur specializing in interactive popularization programs in physics. “He realized that what interested children the most were playing with the possibilities opened up by these programs,” said Chris Misner, CEO of Roblox International. In 2004, Baszucki launched Dynablocks, a kind of rudimentary 3D Lego game, which serves as a prototype for the Roblox we know.
After registration, you can download and install Roblox. You can then access the application through a browser. Roblox will also give you the option to save your login and password.
Roblox runs on multiple platforms, with us running on Windows, other kids logging in on smartphones and tablets. (IOS, Android, even the Kindle operating system, even Amazon Fire are supported, but can also be used from Xbox One.)
Roblox: What and How?
Little media, Roblox quickly made a place on the Internet thanks to a feature in tune with the times: the possibility for users to create their own little summary game and make it available to other users. On the same principle as MySpace, Facebook, or YouTube, Roblox is based on collaboration and the exchange of content.
